The Death of Thomas Franklin Davis

Chesterfield, Feb. 17—Thomas Davis, one of the oldest men of Chesterfield county, died at his home of his son, Reuben N. Davis, a few miles north of town, last Sunday night and was buried on Tuesday at Zoar Methodist church, his pastor, the Rev. J. L. Tyler, conducting the service.   

Mr. Davis was born and reared in this county and was in early manhood a follower of Lee and Jackson. He was a member of the twenty-second [Twenty First] South Carolina Volunteers and saw four years of hard service. During the war he was married to Miss Rosa Massey of Mayesville near the present town of Mt. Croghan in this county. Of this union 14 children were born, ten of whom are now living; Mrs. J. T. Privett of Morven, N.C., W. M. Davis of Hartsville, Jno. R. Davis, Jas. T. Davis, Lester W. Davis, R. N. Davis, Mrs. Gilbert Vaughn, Mrs. F. H. Boatwright of this county, Mrs. A. F. Beacham of Peachland, N. C. , and L. T. Davis of Athens, Ga. His wife died about four years ago.

Thomas F. Davis was a son of Michael Davis and Hulda Rivers. 

Thomas Franklin Davis is my 2nd Great Grand Uncle.
