Fred Rivers to Isaac J. Rivers, Deed

State of South Carolina}
     Know all men by these presents, that I Frederick Rivers of the District of Chesterfield and State aforesaid; for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to me paid by Isaac Rivers of the same District and State aforesaid, have granted, bargained, sold, and released, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and release unto the said Isaac J. Rivers that piece, parcel and tract of land situate lying & being in the District of Chesterfield on the North side of Indian Creek beginning at a Pine 3Xn and running N. W. 70 [degrees] 22.75 [Chs] W Sapafras stakes 3Xo thence S. W. 20 [degrees] 31.50  [chs] W stake 3Xo(black gum grove) thence S. E. 70 [degrees] 38 [chs] to Stake 3Xn----S. Gum thence N. W. 4 [degrees] 33 chains to the beginning containing ninety-five acres more or less which said tract of land was conveyed by me the said Fredrick Rivers by Deed bearing date about the twenty-fifth of January AD 1859, which Deed has since been destroyed by General Sherman's Army in their March through this State in the year 1865. The plat herein attached is a survey made by Wm. L. Robeson, DS for the above tract of lands, which fully sets forth the metes, marks & boundaries &c reference being thereunto had will more fully appear. Together with all and singular, the rights, members, hereditaments and appurtenances to the said premises belonging or in any wise incident or appertaining to have and to hold all and singular the said premises unto the said Isaac J. Rivers, his heirs, and assigns forever. And I do hereby bind myself, my heirs, executors, and administrators to warrant and forever defend the said premises unto the said Isaac J. Rivers, his heirs and assigned from and against myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and against all person whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof. Witness my hand and seal this fifteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven + in the Ninety First year of American Independence..

Mulloy Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas and General Sessions do hereby certify unto all whom it may concern that Mrs. Sarah Ann Rivers, the wife of the within named Frederick Rivers did this day appear before me, and upon being privately and separately examined by me did declare that she does freely, voluntarily and without any compulsion, dread or fear of any person or persons whomsoever, renounce, release and forever relinquish unto the within named Isaac J. Rivers his heirs and assigns, all her interest and estate and also all her rights and claims of Dower of, in or to all and singular the premises within mentioned and released. Given under my hand and seal, this 3rd day of December Anno Domino 1875.

Fred Rivers to Isaac J. River Land Plat

The above Plat is a correct copy of Survey made by me the Fourth Monday in January 1859 the same including the Residence of Isaac J. Rivers on the North Side of Indian Creek and purchased from his Father Frederick Rivers. See the Deed for the same. Given under my hand and seal this 25th January 1859.

Frederick C. Rivers, b. 13 May 1800, was a son of Isaac Rivers and Nancy Parker. He married Sarah Ann Hurst about 1828. Sarah Ann  Hurst b. 28 February 1811 was a daughter of Phillip Hurst and his wife Elizabeth [LNU]. 

Frederick and Sarah reared a large family of 16 children; 7 sons and 9 daughters.

Isaac J. Rivers was the second born son of Frederick and Sarah and their fourth child. In 1867 when this land transaction took place; Frederick was 67 years of age and Isaac was 33 years old.
