Pvt. Hardy Sellers was born on 13 Dec 1823 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. He was a son of Phillip Sellers, Sr. and his wife Mary [LNU].

He was enumerated in the 1850 Anson County, NC Census and the 1860 Census for Chesterfield County, South Carolina.

He enlisted on 12 April 1862 serving with Capt. Kelly's Co. (Chesterfield Art'y.) South Carolina Lt. Art'y..  He died on 15 Aug 1863 at the age of 39 in Petersburg,VA. Hardy was buried at Blandford Church Cemetery. The Memorial at Hopewell Cemetery in Chesterfield County is a Cenotaph.

Hardy Sellers and Mary E. Hancock were married about 1845. Mary E. Hancock, daughter of Phillip Hancock and Sarah Caroline Timmons, was born on 5 Dec 1822 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. She died on 15 May 1900 at the age of 77.

Hardy Sellers and Mary E. Hancock had the following children:

        i.    Lauraetta Jane Sellers, born 10 Sep 1846, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married James William Crawley; died 10 Mar 1900.
         ii.    Sarah Frances "Fannie" Sellers, born Dec 1849, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married John Jackson Steen; died 1914, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.
         iii.    Mary A. Sellers, born abt 1849, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married James Jackson Hancock.
         iv.    Harriett Sellers was born about 1850 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.
         v.    Martha Eliza Sellers, born 17 Oct 1857, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married Thomas Jefferson Sellers; died 20 Sep 1918.
         vi.    Susannah Wood "Sue" Sellers, born 9 May 1855, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married William James Thurman, 27 Mar 1879; died 29 Apr 1939, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.
         vii.    Celia Rebecca Sellers, born abt 1860, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married Hardy Jackson Allen.

Hardy Sellers is my 3rd Great Grand Uncle.
