It’s Family Time~The Eliza Ann “Lycian” Eddins Families

Eliza Ann Eddins was born about 1812 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. She was a daughter of William Eddins and Elizabeth Ingram. Eliza Ann Eddins was married 3 times making it somewhat difficult to follows her so this is a works-in-progress.

Between August 1825, when her baby sister was born in Chesterfield and 1828 when her mother, Elizabeth Ingram Eddins, died in Alabama; the family left Chesterfield and migrated to Butler County, Alabama.

Eliza Ann’s first marriage was to Eli Trevathan on 12 June 1832 in Pike County, Alabama. She was 20 years old; he was age 28 and had been previously married.

Eliza Ann and Eli Trevathan had one Daughter, Elizbeth born 7 Aug. 1833 in Pike County, Alabama. Her husband Eli, passed away on 30 September 1833 leaving Ellen a widow with a 2 month old baby.

The next husband of Eliza Ann (Eddins) Trevethan is somewhat a mystery. We know the she was married to a man by the Surname Lynch. Most say he was none other than Jacob Lynch. I say show me the proof. No marriage record or other documents has been found naming the second husband of Eliza Ann (Eddins) Trevathan. I have found no children from the LYNCH marriage.

I only know that her 3rd marriage was to William H. Strahan on 20 January 1845 in Colorado, Bastrop County, Texas and she was married under the surname LYNCH.

Eliza Ann (Eddins) (Trevathan) (Lynch) Strahan had one child, a son named John Robert “Uncle Bob” Strahan born 2 October 1846.

In the 1850 Census for Colorado, Texas we find William H. Strahan and Eliza, listed as Elizabeth with 4 children in the household.

1850 CENSUS: Colorado, Colorado, Texas; Page 27B (Stamped), Line 17, Dwelling: 28, Family: 30; William H. STRAHAN, Male, age 45, born in NC; Elizabeth STRAHAN, Female, age 38, born in GA; William STRAHAN, Male, age 13, born in GA; Cencennati [Cincinnati] STRAHAN, Female, age 9, born in GA; Addison STRAHAN, Male, age 8, born in TN; Robert STRAHAN, Male, age 3, born in TN and Eliza STRAHAN, Female, age 2, born in TN.

Eliza Ann (Eddins) (Trevathan) (Lynch) Strahan died between 1848-1850 but before before 25 May 1850. I suspect that she died at childbirth of Eliza Strahan, and the Elizabeth Strahan, age 38 in this census is William H. Strahan's 3rd wife Elizabeth M. Wicker whom he married on 25 May 1850.

The 1850 Census were enumerated on 4 September 1850 so clearly the Elizabeth in this 1850 CENSIS is Elizabeth Wicker.
