It’s Family Time~Charles Washington Brock and Sarah Annie Brock Brock

Family Time

Today's Family Time article will spotlight Charles Washington Brock and his wife Sarah Annie Brock.

Charles Washington Brock was the son of James Paul Brock and Catherine Josephine Smith. Known as Charlie, he was born on 2 December 1873  as documented on his World War I draft card.1

Sarah Annie Brock is a sister to my Grandmother Mary Catherine “Mamie” Brock. She was the oldest daughter of Benjamin Franklin Brock and Louise Ellen Sellers Brock; born 14 July 1881.2

Charles Washington and  Sarah Annie were married about 1907.3 This date is based on the birth of their fist child, Edna Mae Brock on 4 October 1908 and the 1910 Census where they stated that they had been married 3 years with two living children. Charles and Sarah Annie had 8 children; 7 daughters and one son, between 1908 and 1921.

Charlie was a lifelong farmer; but his life was cut short at the age of 63 on 12 February 1937 when  he died from Apoplexy (stroke).4

Charles Washington was buried in Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery.5 Sarah Annie Brock lived another 18 years and 10 months. She was buried at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens, Cheraw, South Carolina.6

Charles Washington Brock and Sarah Annie Brock were 2nd cousins once removed. Charles is my 2nd cousin 3 times removed and Sarah Annie is my Grand Aunt.
