Today’s subject is the Sale of Four (4) Land Tracts Totaling 320.5 Acres 1
Roland R. Sellers & Wife to Phillip A. Sellers
This Indenture made this the 17th day of February in the year of our Lord 1851 between Roland R. Sellers & Wife Sarah Sellers of the County of Anson and the State of North Carolina of the one part and Phillip A. Sellers of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. WITNEFSETH that the afsd Roland R. Sellers and his wife Sarah Sellers for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars to them in hand paid by the afsd Phillip A. Sellers at or before the sealing or delivery of these presents do bargain sell and convey to the said Phillip A. Sellers several certain tracts of Land in the County and state aforesaid on the waters of Jones Creek and bounded as follows Beginning at a stake on the bank of Jones Creek just above where the road leading from Haileys Ferry to Camden Crofses said Creek (old ford) one sweet Gum and hickory pts and runs No 48 Est 90 Links to a stake on the east side of the aforesaid road 1 white oak X 3 water oaks pts then So 89 Est 60 Chns 25 L to a stake in the swamp of Little Creek 2 persimon trees pts then down said Creek So 11 Est 5 chns 15 L to a stake near 2 honbeans(?) just above where the road crofses said Creek leading from Hailey's ferry to Sneedsboro then up the Various Courses of said creek to the Beginning containing 283 1/2 acres also another piece known as the paint field Beginning on the bank of Jones Creek at the mouth of Little Creek and runs So 48 Est 12 chns to a stake on the river bank then down the river to a stake by 2 water oaks pts Just above the mouth of the said Jones Creek it being the Lower river corner of the said Jones tract then No 48 Wst about 1 chn & 50 L to Jones Creek then up the Various Courses of Said Creek to the Beginning containing 27 acres. Also another tract whereon the houses now stands Beginning at a stake in the Camden road and runs So 10 Est 19 chns 25 L to a stake in the Strickland line one persimon tree pt then No 89 Wst 50L with said line to a stake on the same near some Graves then No 22 1/2 Wst 13 chns 25 L to a Stake by the side of the Camden road then No 49 Est 5 chns with said road to the Beginning containing 5 acres also another tract drawn and laid off in a Division for R. R. Sellers in right of his wife Beginning at a Rock 2 pines pts 2nd corner of Lott (Page 411) No 4 and runs No 8 Wst 4 chns 38 L to a stake 2 pines pts on the side of the road then Wst 11 chns & 60 L to a stake 3 pines pts then So 8 Est 4 chns 38 L to a stake then Est 11 chns 60 L to the Beginning containing 5 acres now therefore this Indenture Witnefseth that for and in consideration of the premises together with the further consideration of one dollar to then in hand paid by the said Phillip A. Sellers the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged they the said Roland R. Sellers and Wife Sarah Sellers hath given granted released confirmed and quitted claim and by these presents doth give grant release confirm and quit claim unto the said Phillip A. Sellers his heirs and afsigns all their right claim & interest in and to the said tracts of Land to have and to hold together with all and singular the woods ways waters Improvements mines minerals privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to him the said Phillip A. Sellers his heirs and afsigns free of any and all encumbrances whatsoever in testimony whereof the said Rolin R. Sellers and wife Sarah Sellers doth hereunto set their hands and seals the date first above written. Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of

It certainly would be interesting to learn why Rolin R. Sellers sold 4 tracts of land totaling 320.5 acres of land to his brother Phillip A. Sellers.
Rolin and Phillip A. Sellers are my 1st Cousins 4 Times removed.
