Roland Sellers was borne about 1794, a son of Phillip Sellers, Sr. and Mary Gulledge. He like his father was a farmer. About 1817, he married Margaret Eddins daughter of William B. Eddins and his wife Nancy [LNU].
Roland and Margaret raised a family of 14 children; 9 sons and 5 daughters. Margaret Eddins Sellers died in 1841 at the age of forty-three.
The death of Margaret Eddins Sellers left Roland, a farmer, in a delicate position. His last two children, twin daughters, were just 4 years of age.
On 28 December 1842, Roland married Jane Baxter as his second wife. To this union were borne two children.
- Flora D. Sellers was born about 1844 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. Flora never married and remained a Spinster her entire life. She died after 1880.
- Lucy E. Sellers was born in 1846 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. The 1900 Census shows her month/year of birth as May 1850 but she was age 4 in the 1850 census for Chesterfield County, SC. She died on 15 Jun 1925 at the age of 79 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. Lucy never married and remained a Spinster her entire life.
- JANE BAXTER SELLERS was age 69 in April 1879
- Rolen’s 1st Wife Margaret Eddins died in 1841
- Jane Baxter is the Widow of Rolen Sellers deceased.
- She (Jane) was married to the said ROLEN SELLERS at the city (or town) of (blank), in the County of Chesterfield, South Carolina, on the 28th day of December A. D. 1842 by Wm. Moore who was a Minister of the Gospel;
- ROLEN SELLERS died at Chesterfield County in the State of South Carolina, on the 9th day of March A. D., 1848;
Rolen died as shown on 9 March 1848; Margaret Eddins, his first wife died in 1841 and Jane Baxter, 2nd wife of Rolen Sellers died after 1 January 1883. In January 1883 she appeared on this Pensioners Roll. (Last Entry)
A specific actual death date for Jane Baxter Sellers has not been found.

On this 4th day of April A. D., One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy Nine, personally appearing before me, Thomas F. Mulloy, C.C.P. & C (s), the same being a Court of Record within and for the County and State aforesaid, JANE BAXTER SELLERS, aged 69 years, a resident of Chesterfield County in the State of South Carolina, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of ROLEN SELLERS, deceased, who was the identical ROLEN SELLERS who served under the name of ROLEN SELLERS as a PRIVATE in the Company Commanded by Capt. Welsh in the Regiment of (blank), commanded by (blank) in the War of 1812; that her said husband, on or about the 16th day of Sept. A. D., 1814 enlisted for the term of (blank), and continued in actual service in said war for the term of six months and whose service was terminated by reason of honorable discharge, at Charleston, S. C. on the (blank). She further states that the following description of her said husband at the time of his enlistment was, (viz) Age twenty one years, farmer from Chesterfield County, to be about five feet and six inches, dark hair, blue eyes, light complexion. She further states that she was married to the said ROLEN SELLERS at the city (or town) of (blank), in the County of Chesterfield, South Carolina, on the 28th day of December A. D. 1842 by Wm. Moore who was a Minister of the Gospel; and that her name before her said marriage was Jane Baxter, and that she has not remarried since the death of the said ROLEN SELLERS; and she further states that ROLEN SELLERS, her husband was formerly married to Margaret Eddins, who died in the year 1841, in Chesterfield County, South Carolina, and that her said husband ROLEN SELLERS died at Chesterfield County in the State of South Carolina, on the 9th day of March A. D., 1848; and she further declares that the following have been the places of the residences of herself and her said husband, since the date of his discharge from the Army (viz), Chesterfield County, South Carolina. She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the Pension to which she may be entitled under Section 4736 to 4740, inclusive, Revised Statutes, and the ACT of March 9, 1878, and hereby appoints, with full power of Substitution revocation, Benjamin F. Lytle of Charleston, S. C. her true and lawful attorney to prosecute her claim.
And she further declares that she has heretofore made an application for Pension just before the late (one/year) but never received anything, and that her residence is County of Chesterfield, State of South Carolina, and that her Post Office address is Chesterfield Count House, South Carolina.

If the above name is not found on the rolls of said Company, will you so state, and report as to enrollment etc. In the case of any man leaving a similar name when you have good reason for believing for it to be soldier inquired for.

Mulloy, of lawful age, residents of said County and State and (unable to read) whom I certify to be responsible and reliable witness, who after being duly sworn according to law, depose and say they were well and intimately acquainted to Rolen Sellers, late of the County of Chesterfield and State of South Carolina, dec'd, and with his family-that the said Rolen Sellers departed this life on or about ninth of March A. D. 1848, in the County of Chesterfield, State of South Carolina, leaving surviving him Jane B. Sellers, his widow, who still remains his widow never having (unable to read) Marriage & (unable to read) since the death of her said husband Rolen Sellers. Officials further state that the above (declared?) facts are true and personal knowledge and are disinterested in the claim of the said Jane B. Sellers for pension.
