It’s Family Time~The Lewis Boatwright, Sr. Family

Lewis Boatwright, Sr. was borne about 1758 in The Cheraw District, South Carolina. His parents were William Boatwright and Mary Elbert. He was the 3rd of six known sons of this couple

Lewis married Sarah Lundy about 1785 in the Cheraw District.

Sarah Lundy was born about 1760 in South Carolina, most likely also in the Cheraw District. Sarah was the daughter of Simon Samuel Lundy and his wife Rebecca {Last name unknown.].    

In 1799, Lewis, Sr., his son, Lewis Jr. and Thomas Boatwright owned land in and around what is now known as Marion County, South Carolina.

This Indenture made the twenty Seventh day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Ninety Nine in the twenty third year of the Independence of the United States of America~ Between Lewis Boatwright Senr., Lewis Boatwright Junr and Thomas Boatwright of Catfish planters of the State 

By October 1802 , Lewis is acquiring Land in the Chesterfield District.

Lewis Boatwright and Sarah Lundy had the following known children:

i. Drury Boatwright, born 1784, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married Lavicy Thurman, 1816; died bef 23 Oct 1832, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

ii. Sarah "Siddie" Boatwright, born Jan 1786, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married Frederick F. Rivers Jr., abt 1804, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; died 3 Jul 1861, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

iii. Sarah Boatwright, born abt 1790, SC.

iv. Lewis Boatwright Jr., born abt 1798, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married Elizabeth Rebecca Davis, abt 1818, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; died 7 Mar 1863, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

v. Mary "Polly" Boatwright, born abt 1810, SC; married Thompson B. Powell, abt 1834, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.


Frederick F. Rivers Jr., husband of Sarah "Siddie" Boatwright, is my 4th Great Granduncle. 

Elizabeth Rebecca Davis, wife of Lewis Boatwright, Jr., is my 3rd Great Grandaunt.
