Disposition in the Estate of Delila Meador Jackson, 1843.

Delilah Meador married Jesse Jackson, Sr. about 1798 in Anson County, North Carolina. In 1825, Jesse Jackson, Sr. passed away. Delilah, his widow, can be found in the 1830 Census for Anson County, North Carolina. Sometime between 1830 and 1843, Delilah moved from Anson County to Sumter County, Alabama. There Delilah died in 1843.

  3. Susannah Jackson (1803-1860)
  4. James Jackson (1804-1867)
  5. Louis Jackson (1805-1887)

  7. Elizabeth Jackson (1810-1839)
  8. Delilah B. Jackson (1812-1843)
  9. Lavenia Jackson (1813-1852)
  10. Jesse Jackson Jr. (1818-1880)

Estate of Delila Jackson Deceased}
Upon application it is ordered by the Court that Jesse Jackson be and he is hereby appointed administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels rights and credits which were of Delila Jackson late of Sumter County Alabama deceased, and the clerk is ordered to ifsue to him Letters according he having taken the oath prescribed by law, and entered into bond in the sum of Five thousand dollars Conditioned according to law with Alexander Williamson & Edwin Williamson Securities.
Ordered by the Court that Joseph Patton, James H. Curry, Joseph Arrington, Sr. & Michael K. Parker be and they are hereby appointed to appraise the personal property of said deceased & make returns according to law.
Ordered by the Court that said administrator be authorized to sell the Personal property of said deceased according to law
Ordered by the Court that the Clerk cause publication of this administration to be made as the law directs.

Page 356 December Term 1843
No. 89 Estate of Delila Jackson Deceased} This day came on for final action the petition of Jesse Jackson administrator of the estate of Delila Jackson deceased praying that a sale of the real estate of which the said deceases died seized & possessed may be had because as alleged the Same cannot be equally fairly and beneficially divided amongst the heirs of said estate without a sale, and it appearing to the Court that upon the filing of said petition Price Williams was duly appointed guardian ad litem to represent the following minor heirs in the matter of said petition, to wit: Mary, John, Sarah, James & William Jackson minor heirs of said deceased & children of Clarissa & Elijah Jackson deceased, and it appearing further that the said guardian ad litem has devised the above allegation in manner & form as required by law, and that due & legal publication has been made as to James Gathings, Joseph Birch, Elizabeth Jackson & Huldah Jackson who are non residents heirs, according to a previous order of this Court as found at page 302, and upon an inspection of the deposition taken in the matter of said petition as in Chancery Cases in manner & form as the law required, and no person urging any further objection thereof.
It is ordered adjudged and decreed by the Court that the prayers of said petition be granted and that the said Jesse Jackson administrator to be and he is hereby authorized to sell the North West quarter of the North East quarter of section thirteen Township Eighteen Range on West lying and being in Sumter County and in the Demopolis Land district, to the highest and best bidder, at public outcry after giving forty days’ notice of the time and place of sale as the law directs, on a credit of one and two years in two equal payments, the purchasers to give notes with 2 good and approved Securities, and to receive title for said Land upon upon the full payment & discharge of the purchase Money, therefor and the report of Said sale, together with the proceeds thereof to be return into our Court on or before the February Term 1844.
