Registering For The Draft~John William Purvis, Jr.

John William Purvis, Jr. born 20 May 1906 was the son of John William Purvis, Sr. and Nancy Elizabeth Wallace. He was their firstborn son.

When the United States entered World War II on 7 December 1941 John William was a young man 35 1/2 years of age, married, with two children.  When he registered for the Draft on 16 October 1940 he was working for the Works Project Administration, a Roosevelt New Deal program.

To my knowledge, John did not serve in World War II.

John William Purvis, Jr. and Elma Davis were married 23 August 1927. They had two children:
  • Julia Martin Purvis
  • Bobby James Purvis
John William Purvis died 11 Aug 1985. His lovely wife, Alma, passed away on 30 July 1994.

John William Purvis, Jr. was my first Cousin once Removed. His Father and Mother were my Great Uncle and Aunt.
