HOW TO ACCESS CHESTERFIELD COUNTY LAND DEEDS
Chesterfield County Land Record from 1862-1996 can be accessed here:

This is the “Opening Screen” that you will see. It’s the control panel necessary to access the Deed Books.
This panel is where all access will take place
Form top to Bottom
BOOK TYPE
Default is Deed; you can also choose MISC and MORT by clicking on the Down arrow to right of the word DEED
SERIES
Lets you choose either GRANTEE(Buyer) or GRANTOR (Seller)
INDEX BOOKS
Lets you choose the collection Year and the Alphabetical Letters is the First Letter of a Surname
For Instance - if you are looking for a Land Deed from 1880 and your Ancestors surname is JONES you would select (highlight)

The bottom section of this portal related to the Index books (Grantor Index and Grantee Index) that tells you what page in the books contain your desired Land Deed. I will refer to it as the Index Portal

Index Portal
Our target is:
Find all HENDRICKS Deed for 1862-1900
Our First step is to ensure that under
Book Type – Deed is selected
Series – GRANTEE or GRANTOR is Selected
Index Books – Select 1862-1927 H-K
Next, we will click on “View Index” at the bottom left side of Home page and this page will pop up
This page tells you that all Hendricks Land Deeds begins in the Index Book on page 99.
We take that number (99) and return to the Index portal and type 99 in the Index Page block.
At the top of this page, just to the right of the first column, you will see the 99 between two arrows (<99>). This will allow you to move forward or backward in the Index Book.
For the purpose of this tutorial, we will select a deed between:
Margaret E. Hendricks to L. A. Terry al
The index tells us that this Deed is recorded in Deed Book 4 page 583
It’s dated 12 /31/[18]74 Filed 1/15/[18]75 and the land parcel was 157 acres on Thompson Creek.
To look at this deed we need the Book # and page #. Which are:
Book 4 Page 583
On this same page on the left side of your screen enter 4 in the Volume tab near the top of the left column and 583 in the page tab then click on view. Your deed will appear on the right side of your screen.
If you want to save this deed to your computer you can do so by clicking on the small disk at the top of the page.
